St Martin Grants.

Financial help for those in need can be applied for by parish clergy.  Applications are considered by the Area Dean and Rev Jane Hodges (Sub Dean with resp for St Martins grants) and reported to the Deanery Standing committee.

Stepney area is awarded a small annual  block grant by the St Martin in the Fields Vicar's Relief Fund.
This fund is to prevent homelessness and to help enable people to sustain their tenancies.
It can be awarded for a range of needs including: clearing of rent arrears, paying a rent deposit, buying essential items for the home or can be awarded to someone who is currently without accommodation.

The grant will only be awarded where other funds are not available and this is the last resort, so it is not really suitable for those parishes that have trusts of their own to meet need.
For an informal chat about the criteria please phone Jane Hodges on 020 7987 8625.

Applications should be made, by e-mail, to Dawn Bigsby dawnbigsby@yahoo.com and must include the following information.

Name of parish making the referral

Name of applicant

Age of applicant

Names and ages of any dependents

Address of applicant (if applicable)

Confirmation that there are no parish funds that could meet this need.

Ethnic origin of applicant

Brief description of the need that has presented itself, this must be related to the criteria for the grant and demonstrate how the money can help prevent homelessness or aid someone who is homeless.
